BENEFITS OF FUNCTIONAL FITNESS
USE YOUR BODY MORE EFFICIENTLY
Functional fitness is important for everyone! Think about how you use your in your every day life. Usually, every movement you make, uses multiple muscle groups. It makes sense then to do workouts that don’t only focus on one muscle (unless you’re a body builder). Think about when you’re lifting your child up or doing some gardening. You’re engaging a whole group of muscles. Functional training helps make these activities easier.
INCREASE COORDINATION AND BALANCE
Functional Fitness and training uses your own body weight to perform a ranges of movements. Just like in the real world, there are no machines to support your body. You need to rely on your balance while coordinating your body through the movements. This allows your body to become more stable as it works against external forces.
FUNCTIONAL FITNESS PREVENTS INJURIES. WHAT?
Functional training first began as a way to rehabilitate people after injuries. Functional exercises helps keep your joints active and stable which promotes a better quality life. Your abdominals, hips and scapulars are the muscle groups that need to be strong. So many functional exercises incorporate your core muscles – even if the focus is on another part of your body. Engaging your core is super important! It increases your stability, protects your organs and nervous system, strengthens and reduces pain in your back, prevents injuries and improves your posture. Who doesn’t want that?
INCREASED FLEXIBILITY & REACH
Functional training involves movements that require you to incorporate your flexibility and mobility. Full body movements loosen body parts such as the hips, chest and back. Stretching out the extremities to create space within your body.
IMPROVES POSTURE AND DECREASES BACK PAIN
Back pain or discomfort is very common these days. People are more sedentary than ever. Working from home or office all day. Functional training focuses on strengthening the core and increasing mobility. This increases stability throughout your spinal cord and back muscles.
FUNCTIONAL FITNESS MAKES YOU TASTER AND STRONGER
Everyone wants to be faster and stronger. You can become more powerful if all parts of your body are training and moving. Great exercises to develop speed and power include jumping squats, push up variations and explosive lunges. Functional fitness includes a combination of explosiveness, muscle control, balance, agility and coordination is needed.
FUNCTIONAL FITNESS HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR BODY
The emphasis of functional training is to use your body as a weight and as a force. When doing exercises that rely on your body, you become more in tune and responsive to how you feel. Adjusting techniques involve concentrating on how you feel during the exercise. This awareness of your body is priceless as it increases self-respect and self-understanding.
